John Cassini and Molly Parker
John Cassini as Max Matteo |
Synopsis What do you do when only one person stands between you and your lifelong dream… again and again? Max Matteo (John Cassini), a talented actor, can’t seem to catch a break. Despite his skills, Max is always second choice to a producer’s nephew or a more marketable “name”. But where talent can’t beat the system, ambition can. His frustration comes to a boiling point and he takes matters- and people’s lives- into his own hands. His extreme choices bring him the success he desires and a girlfriend who is too good to be true (Molly Parker). With an undercover, wannabe thespian cop in his trail (Rene Rivera), and a guilty conscience weighing him down, he must come to terms with the unorthodox choices he has made on his relentless road to success. In the end, ambition once more takes over, carrying Max and his pursuer to an inevitable and disturbing final confrontation. Boasting an impressive ensemble cast, BREAK A LEG is brimming with terrific performances. Most notably Cassini, who manages to imbue true emotion and three-dimensionality into the anti-hero who will sink as low as he must to get to the top. The assured direction of Monika Mitchell allows her actors to shine, and brings together this funny and tragic tale of what can happen when ambition is thwarted. |
